National Nuclear Operation Helium Leak Detection Robot System is officially put into use

Recently, the automatic helium leakage detection robot system for steam generator heat transfer pipe plate jointly developed by Guokuo Operation and Oriental Electric has officially started production and inspection tasks in Guangzhou.

The system has successfully completed the helium leakage detection work of the first steam generator of Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Unit 6. This move marks the formal entry of the helium leakage detection robot system into manufacturing and application stage, filling the gap in my country’s nuclear energy industry in this technology field.

The system overcomes the key technical difficulties of “ensure 100% inspection coverage of pipe holes and implement intelligent automatic path planning to reduce repeated inspections”. The system does not require manual intervention throughout the whole process, and can cover 100% of the pipe holes of multiple stack steam generators, automatically avoiding the pull rod holes in the leak detection mode of the multi-porous sniffer, avoiding special areas of the edge of the tube plate.

After the helium leak detection robot system is put into use, the personnel configuration required for helium leak detection operation can be streamlined to 50%, reducing the risk of false detection and missed detection, achieving 100% traceability of detection data, making the detection process more convenient and reliable, and injecting innovative momentum into the maintenance of nuclear power facilities.
